About The Position

Position Summary: The Manager, Purchasing (Lab) is a critical leadership role responsible for managing and directing the daily operations of the Purchasing and Supplies departments for a Leading National Clinical Laboratory focused on Kidney Care. This role leads all phases of procurement and inventory control, ensuring the Laboratory's quality and purchasing policies are strictly maintained to support both internal and external customer needs. Nationwide relocation is available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in purchasing or contracting is required.
  • Must have in-depth experience with Procurement and Inventory Control, Budget Management, Vendor Relationship Management, and Contract Negotiation.
  • Must have specific experience with MRP functions and developing/managing departmental budgets.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multi-functions within the organization and with external critical vendors.
  • Must have knowledge of basic wage and hour laws, federal, state, and local laws, and regulations affecting employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting (with a focus on kidney care) is preferred.
  • Experience with WMS (Warehouse Management System), Microsoft SQL, and Crystal reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Inventory Control: Lead all phases of procurement, supporting order processing, inventory control, and administering and approving online purchase requisitions. Must have expertise in Purchasing Practices and MRP functions.
  • Vendor Management: Manage key vendor relationships, negotiate high-value contracts for materials, services, and equipment based on cost objectives.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage departmental budgets, analyze data to forecast procurement needs, and contribute during supplier negotiations and price analysis.
  • Leadership & Development: Direct and develop purchasing team members, including coaching, monitoring performance metrics, planning workflow, and identifying training opportunities.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Prepare presentations related to key performance metrics, program updates, and vendor management. Must ensure departmental compliance with all internal and external regulations, including knowledge of basic wage and hour laws.
