About The Position

Position Summary:The purchasing manager examines data concerning business and service demand and identifies demand patterns and forecasts. Oversee the creation and release of purchase orders in SAP based on MRP signals, forecast demand, and production requirements. Support sourcing efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate pricing Monitor leads times to proactively adjust procurement strategies. Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable delivery, quality compliance, and mutual collaboration. Support quality with getting resolution of supplier issues including quality concerns and non-conformance reports. Supervise and support a team of buyers providing coaching, training, and balancing workload. Creating and updating standard work for purchasing processes Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing purchasing team culture. Maintain and analyze key purchasing reports such as open orders, supplier on-time delivery, inventory coverage, and past due POs. Develop dashboards or KPI reports to communicate purchasing performance to leadership Collaborate with production planners and schedulers to align material deliveries with build schedules and inventory targets. Participate in daily and weekly production meetings to provide insight into material availability and potential risks. Identify inefficiencies in the purchasing process and lead process improvement projects. Work with cross-functional teams (Planning, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse) to streamline procurement operations. Champion system integrity by ensuring accurate data entry in SAP (pricing, lead times, vendor data, etc.). Monitor and manage inventory levels to support production without overstocking. Help reduce excess and obsolete inventory through proactive planning and supplier collaboration. Partner with Finance and Warehouse teams to ensure accurate valuation and tracking of purchased materials. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with internal policies, safety regulations, and quality standards. Maintain thorough documentation for audits, quality checks, and regulatory compliance. Support new product launches and engineering changes by securing new components and managing transitions. Assist in annual budgeting, cost planning, and spend analysis. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
