About The Position

Manager, Project Manager Office of Information Technology This position is responsible for driving the IT project process, and ensuring that it aligns with OIT’s strategic objectives and the University’s IT project governance practices. In conjunction with the Director, IT Strategy, Project and Portfolio Management this incumbent will be responsible for making sure that the OIT project portfolio is an effective tool for wedding the University IT governance process with available resources and project execution. They will manage the team of IT project managers and ensure that project processes and standards are established and followed resulting in campus confidence that IT projects will be successfully delivered on time and within budget. This position may also manage the complex IT projects. This is a remote-eligible position although the incumbent will be required to work on-site occasionally as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 8-10 years of IT project management experience including a minimum of 5 years experience planning and managing all sizes of technology projects.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to champion departmental goals and steer a cross-functional team towards shared success.
  • Experience leading a diverse portfolio of project types.
  • Ability to advise on appropriate approach to project management process depending on project type.
  • Adept at navigating complex and delicate situations involving diverse and senior stakeholders to ensure project success and alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to define a complex work breakdown structure and drive project execution in an organized and disciplined manner.
  • Deep and varied project problem-solving experience, including advanced skills in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating high-impact project risks.
  • Highly proficient with project management tools.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and persuasively across the enterprise, ensuring understanding and engagement with executives, technical teams, project staff, and stakeholders alike.
  • Ability to foster buy-in and cooperation through persuasion, influence, and persistence.
  • Strong analytical and facilitation skills.
  • Well organized and capable of tracking, managing, and resolving issues on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity in a diverse organizational environment
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
