About The Position

The Manager of Production, is responsible for managing the production department, achieving desired goals in efficiency, on-time performance, and quality control. Provide leadership to production employees and create a positive work environment, consistently giving performance feedback to employees. This role also oversees the Bindery and Finishing Departments, ensuring quality, workflow efficiency, and proper staffing.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience managing 5-8 ppl and leading a team of 30-50 ppl across multiple shifts.
  • Print and Mail Production is preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing production in the direct mail industry STRONGLY preferred.
  • Previous experience in print production management, with specific experience in letter shop operations preferred.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Thorough understanding of printing processes, equipment, and materials.
  • Knowledge of quality control principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Must be able to be able to stand on feet for at least 8 hours/day
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Manage performance, including regular performance feedback, annual evaluations, goal setting, and improvement plans.
  • Production management; have an understanding of the lettershop process
  • Ensure all Lettershop employees are properly trained on equipment and processes.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Bindery Department, ensuring all equipment (cutters, folders, etc.) is running efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure all Bindery staff are properly trained on equipment, safety protocols, and production processes.
  • Monitor Bindery production schedules to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Implement and maintain quality control standards for all bindery output.
  • Manage workflow between Bindery, Lettershop, and other related production areas.
  • Identify areas of improvement and work with the Lettershop team and other departments to initiate and execute process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Maintain respectful communication and interdepartmental relationships at all times
  • Hold accountable supervisors, leads and employees to the established quality procedures.
  • Work with members of the management team on all changes or deviations from the original work order as quickly as possible to ensure continued production without jeopardizing the order.
  • Coordinate with the Scheduler & Maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance.
  • Represent the Lettershop Department in the weekly cross-functional team meeting.
  • Prepare and conduct regular Department Meetings.
  • Partner with Human Resource and Talent Acquisition in retaining and acquiring talent for the Lettershop team.
