About The Position

The Manager of Production Planning is responsible for leading and executing integrated production planning processes across the business unit. This role provides oversight of planning systems and workflows utilized to develop and manage multiple production schedules, including the daily maintenance of finished product codes. The position ensures alignment among customer demand, manufacturing capacity, and raw material availability while balancing customer service, operational efficiency, and inventory objectives. The Manager supervises one or more direct reports and is accountable for providing direction, prioritization, and performance management to ensure consistent execution of planning activities and achievement of departmental and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience; general animal science knowledge, and/or Consumer Products/Logistics/Supply Chain Management is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills, generating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets, and creating DB2 queries. Knowledge of Production Planning and/or Tyson's internal systems such as OP/PA are considered a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills through various levels required. Ability to train other Team members in the work unit is critical for this position. informal presentations to groups on work-related topics.
  • Special Skills: Strong organization, strategic thinking, communication skills, and strong analytical skills are a must. Must work well in a fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines in a reasonable time frame with a positive/upbeat attitude; ability to collaborate with others and drive for results in a timely manner.
  • Supervisory: This position has 1+ direct reports
  • Travel: 1-5 domestic trips per year
  • Work Shift: 1ST SHIFT (United States of America)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Production Plan to align demand, capacity, and material availability.
  • Supervise and coach planning staff, including prioritization of work and performance management.
  • Oversee planning systems and data integrity, including maintenance of finished product codes and schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage inventory targets to balance service and working capital.
  • Investigate and resolve production, inventory, and service variances to support order fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with operations and cross-functional teams to address supply-demand imbalances and operational constraints.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
