The Manager, Production Line is responsible for achieving employee retention, quality and production goals through strong leadership, development of employees/processes, efficient scheduling of resources and continuous improvement. Achieves long-term strategic goals for the department including budget, project and headcount management.What You'll Do: Management Develop, maintain and implement policies and procedures to improve production, equipment usage, job performance and quality of product methods. Continually and proactively demonstrate strong leadership through training, motivating and developing other team members. Ensure employee retention goals are met through recruiting, selection, orientation, training, communicating expectations, developing growth opportunities and providing consistent feedback to employees. Ensure company policies and guidelines, as set forth in the Corporate Human Resources Policy manual are followed; maintain a safe and clean work environment and collaborate with other Line Managers to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. Make staffing arrangements to ensure line is adequately staffed, approve vacation and sick leave and hire temporary workers as needed. Conduct timely and accurate employee performance evaluations; addresses performance issues. Review monthly budget with Accounting Department to ensure efficient cost control; make necessary adjustments to keep department running efficiently and effectively. Manage Supervisors that report to your line. Planning Develop and implement production plan in order to meet established goals. Determine capacity planning and coordinate personnel and machine usage in order to maintain established production goals. Determine and establish cost planning and ensure operations fall within established budget parameters. Production Reviews production lists, priority lists, and back order reports generated by Material Requirements Planning (MRP) Controller; prioritize and schedules production schedules accordingly. Coordinates daily with Line Supervisor to ensure efficient product output and production numbers are met; adjust machines and allocate employees according to scheduling needs. Monitors flow of raw materials, parts and miscellaneous items utilizing KANBAN, visual checks and computer reports generated by Line Supervisor and MRP Controller; prepare purchase requisitions and submit to appropriate purchasing agent. Schedules maintenance and setup of all equipment utilizing maintenance schedule and internal maintenance department personnel. Reviews metrics including, but not limited to, equipment utilization and efficiency, product output and product waste; prepares associated reports and submits to senior management for review. Continuous Improvement Formally communicates production information to Management on a weekly basis via production boards. Drives improvements in production through Viega’s continuous improvement process. Suggests equipment and tooling improvements based on production experience and results. Drives root cause analysis and proper corrective actions. Participate in QIT (Quality Improvement Team) meetings. Other Attends scheduled meetings, including shift overlap meeting, safety meeting, daily management meetings and other operational meetings as necessary. Performs related duties as required or assigned. Special Job Dimensions Some travel will be required.
