About The Position

The 1st Shift Production Manager at Caterpillar Inc. is responsible for leading and organizing the daily operations of the manufacturing and assembly teams in Pontiac, IL. This role involves overseeing production processes, ensuring safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within a dynamic work environment. The manager will also be accountable for resource allocation, staffing strategies, and maintaining operational efficiency across a three-shift operation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent manufacturing operations experience.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations and ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant.
• Knowledge of manufacturing safety and ability to identify work-related hazards.
• Knowledge of quality management methods and ability to create an environment that meets quality goals.

• Experience in leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement processes and quality evaluation tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily direction and organizational leadership for hourly associates in Manufacturing and Assembly value streams.
• Create reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory; share them with managers and provide suggestions for improvement.
• Prepare, maintain, and update documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards.
• Supervise and direct the daily activities of production line workers, assigning tasks and ensuring coordination between teams.
• Train new hires, manage scheduling and work conflicts, and promote internal communication to foster a culture of collaboration.
