About The Position

The Process Safety Management (PSM) Manager is responsible for leading, governing, and continuously improving the Process Safety Management program across multiple PSM-covered manufacturing sites. This remote role provides strategic oversight, technical expertise, and program standardization to ensure compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations while supporting safe operations in high-hazard processes. The PSM Manager partners with site leadership, EHS, Engineering, and Operations teams to drive consistent execution of PSM elements, mitigate process risks, and foster a culture of process safety across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Required)
  • 7-9 years in Process Safety Management (PSM) within covered manufacturing facilities (Required)
  • 7-9 years multi-site or enterprise-level PSM program leadership (Required)
  • Expert knowledge of OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, risk-based process safety management, and related regulatory requirements (High proficiency)
  • Ability to lead and govern enterprise-level PSM programs (High proficiency)
  • Expertise in PHA methodologies, MoC, and mechanical integrity (High proficiency)
  • Ability to assess and prioritize process safety risks across multiple sites (High proficiency)
  • Communication and influencing skills across leadership levels (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously (Medium proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise-level leadership and governance for the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs across six PSM-covered sites, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of regulatory requirements and risk management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized PSM policies, procedures, tools, and metrics to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead and oversee Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including facilitation strategy, revalidation schedules, recommendations tracking, and risk prioritization.
  • Oversee Management of Change (MoC) programs to ensure technical rigor, risk assessment, and timely closure of actions related to process changes.
  • Partner with site teams to conduct audits, gap assessments, and compliance reviews; analyze findings and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to site EHS, Engineering, and Operations leaders on PSM requirements, integration of PSM projects into capital budget planning, best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as the primary corporate subject matter expert for PSM and RMP compliance
  • Monitor regulatory trends and industry best practices related to process safety
  • Support incident investigations involving process safety events or near misses
  • Partner on capital projects, property insurance assessments, and high-hazard process reviews
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to support enterprise EHS objectives
