About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide support and guidance for the facilities within the assigned region in order to bring and maintain the facilities' PSM & RMP programs into full compliance. Additionally, this position is responsible for all required audits, such as PHA, CA and RMP audits/submittals for all facilities within the assigned region. This position will also provide PSM and related policies training; will assist facility management with PSM & RMP compliance issues; lead AOS Refrigeration Excellence and will support Safety culture throughout the Region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, safety, safety engineering, safety, engineering, or related field
  • 5 year's minimum Process Safety experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or chemical process environment
  • Minimum 5 years direct Process Safety Management (PSM/RMP) experience or exposure to managing/involvement in a PSM program at a manufacturing or chemical facility
  • Previous experience with multi-site responsibilities in a PSM/RMP required
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Will need to complete ammonia refrigeration education within 1 year of hiring
  • Strong overall computer skills required, (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required)
  • Solid practical and demonstrated understanding of OSHA PSM program and EPA RMP programs

Responsibilities

  • Lead the continued development and implementation of a corporate-wide Process Safety strategy
  • Utilize Ammonia Process Safety Management (APSM) to help provide leadership and direction to maintain compliant and effective Process Safety programs for all refrigerants
  • Provide support and training to site personnel in the proper maintenance of PSM in their electronic APSM Program
  • Be knowledgeable in emergency response requirements and support each facility in the formation and execution of their emergency response actions and plan
  • Serve as the primary Process Safety knowledge resource to the facilities for OSHA regulations and Americold's Standards, Industry Best Practices and Policies; including process safety systems
  • Coordinate engineering resources needed to support Process Safety technical elements
  • Organize and lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
  • Organize and lead Compliance Audits (CAs)
  • Serve as Process Safety contact for facility audits and inspections
  • Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Oversee and coordinate capital expenditure requirements as they relate to PSM audit and inspection findings for each facility
  • Manage tracking systems for Process Safety related action items to ensure timely and effective resolution
  • Ensure the development, improvement and implementation of Process Safety requirements
  • Monitor and ensure site compliance for training requirements
  • Serve as primary point of contact in the event of process safety incidents and emergencies
  • Work with facilities to conduct process safety related incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Support facilities in the development and use of risk assessment methods and tools for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards
  • Drive and assist with the mitigation of identified gaps, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure facilities have processes in place to effectively manage process safety compliance requirements
  • Facilitate the development and use of effective training, change management, incident investigation, and self-assessment processes
  • Ensure facilities develop and implement appropriate and effective corrective and preventive actions in response to assessments, audits, incidents, and other events/activities, and timely closure is properly tracked and documented
  • Actively seek out and facilitate knowledge sharing opportunities (e.g., risks, best practices, common audit findings, lessons learned); foster peer communication and interaction (networking) between facilities
  • Participate as a key team member of the Corporate Safety and Risk Management Staff
  • Provide support to facilities that experience emergency situations (e.g., ammonia releases) and execute the Corporate Notification Plan when necessary
  • Be actively involved in outside agency inspections (e.g., OSHA, EPA or state initiatives) by participating in opening conferences, mitigating findings, participate in informal conferences or formal contest of citations
  • Help sites with Tier II submissions and track compliance
  • Provide APSM implementation guidance for new facilities as they come on board
