About The Position

Basic Function HF Sinclair Midstream is seeking a Manager, Process Controls Engineering. This position will lead the Process & Controls Engineering group within Midstream Technical Services. Serve as technical manager and SME for process control systems, PLC programing, and automated product transfer operations. Own standardization efforts for process control. Collaborate on new or modified facility projects, including Cause & Effect and Control Narratives. Job Duties (functions considered essential as defined by ADA) Develop programing and hardware standards for PLC’s and terminal control systems. Develop control schemes and programming for new or modified equipment. Manage Cause & Effect matrices, Instrumentation Indexes, and Control Narratives. Provide engineering guidance for PLCs and related hardware; plan and implement upgrades. Define SCADA hardware requirements for pipeline and terminal projects. Interpret P&IDs and schematics for instrumentation and automation. Establish PLC programming and terminal automation standards. Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations. Support operations with troubleshooting and maintaining control strategies. May be required to do some or all of the following: Develop advanced process control strategies and optimize systems. Participate in hazard analyses, safety reviews, and incident investigations. Prepare/review technical specifications and vendor proposals. Perform special assignments as needed. Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years in Process, Automation, and Controls Engineering.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Contols Engineering is required.
  • PLC programming, process control design, and I&C expertise.
  • Ability to read P&IDs and control system documentation.
  • Knowledge of hazardous location wiring, panel design, and multiple PLC platforms (GE, Emerson, Rockwell).
  • Familiarity with flow computers, telemetry, and wireless communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible for managing Engineering staff including contractors.
  • May be responsible for providing technical support to the broader SCADA support team.

  • Specific industry experience including PLC’s, Pipeline SCADA systems, light product terminal automation and control systems, pipeline leak detection, cyber security requirements, and ISA Safety Instrumented System requirements
