About The Position

This position leads the pricing operations and financial analysis functions for the organization. The incumbent is responsible for directly and indirectly providing financial analysis, insights, and recommendations for key operational and strategic decisions at Compeer. Leads a team that provides decision support, strategic and operational investment business case supports, publishes the annual profitability results, and conducts operating reviews for the revenue generating business units. The incumbent also leads the Pricing team who is responsible for the ownership, administration, and support for loan and lease transfer pricing for all of Compeer’s lending units. This includes daily administration of prime files, rate sheets, and hedging positions as well as first line support for pricing products, quotes, models, and tools. Advocates and executes pricing strategy, policy, models, and tools for Compeer in order to drive profitable growth for member-owners. Participates as a member of the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), and is involved with project teams across Compeer to advocate pricing strategy and ensure compliance with wholesale and retail pricing guidelines and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 7+ years of advanced finance and/or accounting experience (financial reporting, financial planning, financial modeling, financial analysis, pricing, treasury, GAAP accounting, etc.), preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Minimum of one year of leadership and management experience preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of federal and state (Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) laws, regulations and compliance requirements specific to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
  • Solid knowledge of financial concepts, products and instruments (loans, leases, bonds, swaps, time value of money, financial statements etc.).
  • Solid analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Attention to detail with the ability to balance accuracy with efficiency and understand when one needs to take priority.
  • Solid presentation skills for one-on-one and/or group presentations with the ability to translate highly technical information into non-technical terms and present results and insights to multiple audiences including the entire organization, ELT and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Solid financial modeling skills including tools and concepts such as PowerPivot, data tables, monte Carlo simulation, discounted cash flow, ROI, payback period, net present value, and regression analysis.
  • Knowledge of financial markets including; fixed income, swaps, interest rates, capital markets, impacts of US & Global Economy on interest rates, financial instruments, and funding.
  • Knowledge of credit funding and transfer pricing.
  • Knowledge of asset liability management.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations. Can effectively deal with ambiguity, cope with change, shift gears comfortably, and make decisions without have having 100% of the data.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills including listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to build relationship and communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to align organizational strategy and priorities to the priorities of the finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Champions the brand; serves as a role-model for the vision, mission and values of the organization. Supports Compeer’s strategic initiatives.
  • Assists senior leadership in identifying and implementing short- and long-term strategies and tactics for the finance department.
  • Delivers business analytics and insights and makes recommendations to senior leadership and ELT for organizational strategic and operational initiatives to ensure long term financial success.
  • Leads the financial business case process for revenue generating strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Is responsible for creation and delivery of presentations for senior leaders, the Board of Directors and its Committees.
  • Analyzes and reports portfolio pricing metrics, opportunities, and risks to leadership and front-line sales.
  • Educates leadership and front-line sales on profitability drivers, transfer pricing rules and guidelines, opportunities, and risks.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for projects to ensure alignment with pricing strategy, profitability targets, policy, rules/guidelines, and systems.
  • Looks for and acts on opportunities to create innovative pricing solutions for our client-owners.
  • Support the forecasting and annual budget process. Although these activities will be led by a peer, the finance business partners reporting to this role are responsible for preparing the annual budget and midyear forecasts for the business units they support.
  • Selects, trains, evaluates, compensates, recognizes, and motivates assigned team members.
  • Manages team projects, workloads, and deliverables, ensuring the team meets business requirements and goals.
  • Proactively identifies and coordinates ongoing technical training for team members to introduce new skills or enhance existing skills to assist in following best practices.
  • Provides ongoing training, coaching, and learning opportunities to develop the team’s knowledge base and scope of responsibilities.
  • Provides consistent open communication of company initiatives and market developments that may impact the team’s workload.
  • Interprets and communicates financial data for complex questions; provides guidance and effectively translates highly technical finance, regulations and/or accounting information into non-technical terms.
  • Publishes annual profitability results. Educates senior leadership team on key drivers of profitability and recommends a course of action resulting in increased profitability for Compeer.
  • Prepares annual peer review analysis and presents to senior leadership and the board of directors providing insight around Compeer’s financial results relative to our peers.
  • Serves as a resource/mentor for team leaders and team members across the organization in understanding financial information and gaining insights from financial data.
  • Leverages a sophisticated FP&A infrastructure to translate company specific and industry data into key strategic insights that drive forward-thinking business decisions.
  • Coordinates daily pricing tasks and project work for the team ensuring adequate coverage, backup, and learning opportunities.
  • Develops and/or maintains all pricing models throughout the company.
  • Provides support for front line users of all pricing models/tools.
  • Initiates and documents model validation for all pricing models.
  • Provides input and analysis to assist in budgeting interest rates, spreads, and product mix.
  • Oversees the daily pricing of secondary market home mortgage portfolio in order to ensure optimal profitability at sale.
  • Oversees the daily communication and data flow with Compass Analytics and Compeer’s hedging partner to ensure adequate price risk mitigation.
  • Oversees the execution of monthly loan sales to Freddie Mac to obtain optimal pricing.
