About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for a Manager of Plant Procurement, in the Procurement Department at our Princeton Coal facility in Princeton, West Virginia. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all procurement activities that occur at the Princeton facility. The manager is responsible for continually working to improve and reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of purchased products and services by interfacing with Operations, Maintenance, Warehousing, Inventory Control, and Finance. Requirements

  • BS or BA in Business or Supply Chain
  • At least 5 years of procurement, commodity management or other strategic sourcing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of market trends
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Steel Mill or Heavy Industrial/Manufacturing experience
  • CPSM or equivalent certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Oracle, Ellipse and Tabware or other Purchasing/Sourcing systems
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • High attention to detail
  • High standard of ethics

Responsibilities

  • Manage long-range procurement plans and strategies for commodities managed at the Operations
  • Ensure organizational financial goals are met, including budget and savings
  • Direct work efforts of Procurement Staff to ensure productive, efficient, and accurate procurement transactions
  • Manage supplier relationships, track supplier performance and communicate performance feedback to suppliers
  • Build and maintain relationships with Cliffs’ internal customers and ensure delivery in accordance with agreed upon terms
  • Develop and lead strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories to include strategy development, Request for Proposal development and analysis, negotiations, supplier selection, contract implementation, ongoing commodity management, and contract compliance
  • Participate in developing detailed sourcing strategies for a broad set of indirect categories to drive cost-savings initiatives, which align with company goals
  • Carry out company policies regarding procurement practices, standards and ethical conduct to ensure a fair, effective and competitive sourcing process
  • Conduct meetings with plant personnel and suppliers to resolve any supply, service, or support issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
