How you will make history here... The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing plant operations for (add details on the product category or specific plant). This role is responsible for (add number of employees) person operation, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the plant. The role involves leading and managing day to day operations across departments, fostering a high performing team-based environment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, driving cost management and improvement initiatives and maintaining high levels of customer service. The leader will also promote employee engagement and teamwork through ongoing training, coaching and mentoring. The incumbent will act as a strategic business partner with internal and external customers, suppliers, and peers throughout the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to drive continuous improvement activities leveraging innovative tools and approaches. Key leadership requirements include the ability to inspire trust, create direction, drive decision making, build talent and culture, execute with excellence, and own the results

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED
  • 3 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a business or technical field.
  • Prior experience in managing and leading in a (select: non-union or union environment)
  • Proven experience in managing and developing talent, ensuring effective team dynamics and team engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Manage daily plant operations for assigned functional area through direct reports.
  • Production Standards: Establish production standards, develop budget and cost controls, and subscribe to product quality, food safety, and conformance to specification programs for all products manufactured. Ensure all employee safety, manufacturing and overhead cost, food safety, and product quality objectives are met.
  • Team Development: Develop direct reports by providing guidance, coaching, and assignments/projects that result in high employee engagement, high-performing teams, and a high-performing organization.
  • Financial Management: Oversee and manage the plant's budget, including staffing, operations, maintenance, and capital expenditures. Ensure cost controls are in place and financial targets are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Create a culture of continuous improvement in production, quality, and cost. Foster a culture of innovation and efficiency. Monitor performance metrics and lead cross-functional teams to achieve sustainable improvements that align with organizational goals.
  • Process Planning: Provide guidance to the development of manufacturing process plans for products, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Coordination: Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Efficiency and Quality: Serve as a key team member in identifying waste reduction and cost savings opportunities, maintaining high levels of efficient production, and exceeding food safety and product quality standards.
  • Problem Resolution: Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Facilitate and/or direct resolution to issues as it relates to employee safety, food safety, and product quality.
  • Communication: Develop and implement effective communication plans to keep Plant Management, Corporate, and direct/indirect reports well-informed regarding business objectives, priorities, results, initiatives, changes, etc.
  • Product Strategy: Provide input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
  • Training: Ensure all employees are knowledgeable about their roles and responsibilities.
