About The Position

This Manager, Plant HR Generalist position is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing the Plant HR Generalist team and ensuring the smooth operation of all HR functions within the manufacturing facility. This individual will work closely with plant leadership and corporate HR to deliver impactful HR services, resolve employee relations issues, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with labor laws. They will also play a key role in implementing strategic HR programs and initiatives, supporting local union contract negotiations, and fostering a positive and ethical work environment. The role reports to the Plant HR Director and has managerial responsibilities over the Plant HR Generalist team, including staffing, performance, discipline, and development.

Requirements

  • Experience in labor relations and managing employee union issues.
  • Strong understanding of payroll, time and attendance processes.
  • Knowledge of leaves of absence policies and regulations.
  • Experience conducting investigations and handling disciplinary issues.
  • Ability to work closely with safety and occupational health leads.
  • Experience in talent management and employee engagement strategies.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with leadership teams.
  • Experience in executing HR service delivery and compliance.
  • Ability to leverage lean methodology for problem solving.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resolution of employee union issues such as conflicts, disputes, and disciplinary matters.
  • Participate in preparing collective bargaining agreements and negotiations with employee unions.
  • Oversee payroll and attendance tracking processes by the plant HR generalist team.
  • Conduct investigations within assigned customer group for disciplinary issues, grievances, and arbitration matters.
  • Work closely with safety and occupational health leads to address employee health and wellness concerns.
  • Drive the talent management process for hourly employees within the customer group.
  • Build strong relationships with leadership team to identify solutions that drive sustainable cultural change.
  • Take ownership of People Leader activities for the Plant HR team.
  • Execute Labor COE and HRBO designed products and services within the customer group.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive employee experience through proactive initiatives.
  • Leverage lean methodology and tools for problem solving.
  • Develop an understanding of plant operations to provide valuable consulting to plant leadership.
  • Partner with local communications staff to implement an integrated communications strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Oversee interactions with local governmental agencies and coordinate charitable activities.
  • Monitor key workforce metrics to identify potential risks and mitigating actions.
