The Manager, Strategic Planning & Business Development is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the overall strategic planning and growth initiatives for Nidec’s Motion & Energy (MOEN) business unit. This role reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer of MOEN and will work closely with one of the two business platforms within MOEN—Motion or Energy—and their respective business segments. The position requires close collaboration with senior leadership at the business unit, platform, and segment levels and offers high visibility and a clear path to future leadership opportunities within Nidec. This role will be based out of our St. Louis, MO, or downtown Chicago, IL office. The assigned location will depend on the candidate’s current residence and business needs. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration and an undergraduate degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in banking, consulting, or accounting, with exposure to strategic planning or business development.
  • Strong interest in market trends, industry insights, and business strategy.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience leading teams.
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve business unit goals and objectives.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and industry insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategic and operational plans; identify potential M&A or strategic partnerships.
  • Provide guidance on strategic initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Monitor market conditions and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Lead an inclusive strategic planning process that engages all stakeholders.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure success and drive accountability.
  • Coordinate strategic planning meetings and present progress updates to leadership.
  • Build strategies to identify new business opportunities aligned with business objectives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and partners to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Deliver compelling presentations to prospective clients and partners showcasing our value proposition.
  • Partner with marketing and product development teams to drive revenue growth.
  • Track progress against goals and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Stay current on industry developments and best practices in business development.
