About The Position

Primary purpose: To develop, implement, coordinate and audit Physical Security programs, policies and procedures for Tallgrass Energy pipeline and terminal facilities, including state, local and federal compliance. Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities: Support, manage and represent Security Operations with Project Management team, including coordination for major projects. Support site selection for new facilities by conducting risk assessment of surrounding area. Assist with security support operations concerning travel and international travel requirements, including coordination and facilitation. Manage and assist in maintaining, managing and expanding the use and access of all field facility video surveillance. Supervise camera and video surveillance programs, including record retention and federal compliance requirements. Manage and assist in developing and managing access control programs and procedures. Conduct and/or coordinate security threat and vulnerability assessments of Tallgrass facilities. Conduct background checks of select individuals, contractors and groups as necessary. Lead/assist in investigations and ensure proper documentation of all security related incidents. Departmental support including Human Resources, Executive Team, Legal, Land, Project Management, Accounting and EHSS. Act as liaison between Tallgrass and Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement. Conduct outreach and develop lines of communication with local first responders in areas Tallgrass operates. Train subordinate security professionals or other organization members in security rules and procedures. Direct and participate in emergency management and contingency planning. Develop or assist in budget coordination for security operations. Manage and/or assist in planning security for special and high-risk events. Assist and supervise physical security presence and operations at TG facilities, including HQ, Offices, Facilities and Field locations. Assist in implementation of Executive Protection program, including international travel and high-risk events. Assist in coordination of Federal Pipeline Security Compliance programs, including TSA, DHS, DOT, FERC and PHMSA. Maintain, update and assist with Corporate Security Plan including access and training for TG employees. Monitor external pipeline threats including opposition, and communicate risk and intelligence as needed. Maintain security reporting database, records and documentation of security-related events and incidents. Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism. Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully. Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance. Will work non-traditional hours as needed. Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public. Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined. Other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in law enforcement or a related discipline. A minimum of 8 years direct work experience in law enforcement or related field may be considered as a substitute for a degree.
  • Experience/Specific Knowledge: Physical security related training and certifications should be noted in application/resume. Major pipeline construction and security experience is preferred. Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel). Must have or had federal security clearance, and/or be federal security clearance eligible.
  • Competencies, Skills & Abilities: Must be able speak clearly and convey information effectively and efficiently.
  • Bi-lingual with fluent English and Spanish speaking REQUIRED.
  • Must be able to use logic and reason to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Must be able to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be flexible to allow for travel and international travel, as required.
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

  • Federal regulatory and compliance experience preferred.
  • Financial investigative experience preferred, including coordinating/interacting with legal team for review.
