About The Position

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Hospital Pharmacy Operations Manager for its Memorial City location. This position is responsible for supervising designated Pharmacy Department personnel, filling and labeling prescriptions, and providing drug-related information to both inpatients and outpatients. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served, including an understanding of the principles of growth and development as they relate to different life cycles. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through an in-house program or other accredited program
  • Five (5) years pharmacy experience
  • Two (2) years of hospital pharmacist experience
  • Knowledge of unit dose and IV additives
  • Ability to work with health care personnel associated with the Pharmacy department
  • Ability to apply personnel policies and procedures
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to develop and direct Pharmacy clinical and educational programs
  • Ability to facilitate and lead work groups
  • Ability to plan and manage the utilization of resources
  • Knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices
  • Familiarity with health care reimbursement environment

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the activities of all department employees in consultation with the Department Director, assuming responsibility in the Director’s absence.
  • Fill/label prescriptions, providing drug-related information to inpatients and outpatients according to the needs/age of the patient/patient population being served.
  • Dispense controller substances and supplies to nursing departments.
  • Conduct inventory and maintain appropriate inventory records.
  • Maintain the scheduling and preparation of IV solutions and additives.
  • Adhere to state and federal laws governing the practice of pharmacy, maintaining records as required.
  • Maintain medication profiles and review for drug-related problems.
  • Represent the department at organization meetings at the Director’s request.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
  • Support department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
  • Serve as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
