About The Position

Reports to the Regional Director of St Peter’s Health Partners Pharmacy Services and is responsible for the management and delivery of quality, cost-effective, and patient centered pharmaceutical services within St Peter’s Health Partners. The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of pharmaceutical services. The Pharmacy Manager establishes standards of quality, productivity and performance in accordance with hospital/system policies, accreditation and State and Federal regulatory requirements. The Pharmacy Manager has direct accountability for oversight and management of the department. They are responsible for evaluating, staffing and supervision of the daily operations of their assigned area. The Pharmacy Manager works with the Pharmacy Residency Program Director and Coordinators to contribute to the education of the Pharmacy Residents. The Pharmacy Manager demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmacy Education.
  • Current license and registration as a pharmacist in the state of New York.
  • Approximately 5 to 7 years of progressively more responsible related work experience, including 2 to 4 years in a supervisory/leadership capacity.
  • Experience within settings that provide a depth of clinical, medication distribution, and management experience.
  • Analytical skill necessary to develop, implement, and administer policies, procedures, analyze financial and clinical data and prepare clear, concise reports that identify opportunities and propose appropriate action plans.
  • Interpersonal skills to coach, mentor and effectively lead assigned personnel, facilitate/organize/direct the work of others and to maintain positive relationships among medical staff, hospital managers, executives and staff.
  • Must possess proven skills in written/verbal communications, problem solving, independent problem solving, decision-making abilities, creativity, prioritization/delegation, and necessary computer-related skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles, standards, and technology applicable to pharmaceutical services and to medication safety
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of continuous process and performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of the NYS Pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Ability to express information effectively in verbal and written communication and through group/business presentations.

  • Facilitation and oversight of new implementations
  • Participation and coordination of upgrades and unit moves
  • Sterile Processing Oversight of Sterile Compounding (SPH Inpatient and Infusion Center)
  • Pharmaceutical Waste Department contact for the Pharmaceutical Waste program
  • Departmental Goals Works with Pharmacy Management Team to set goals for the SPHP Department of Pharmacy
  • Works with Pharmacy Management and leads the Pharmacy Team to achieve department goals
  • Emergency ManagementCDC Chempack Program
  • The manager serves as one of the primary contacts for the CDC Chempack Program
  • Emergency Management The manager will serve as a back-up and support for all emergency management occurrences and drills.

  • Supports and is involved in the SPHP continuous quality improvement efforts designed to increase patient outcomes, increase patient satisfaction, and improve the utilization of SPHP human, capital, and physical resources.

  • People Recruitment Responsible for effectively managing the human resources for the assigned work area.

  • The Pharmacy Manager is generally at the site weekdays. The manager is encouraged to have regular communication (face-to-face and/or verbal communication) with all staff on all shifts. Occasional weekend/evening meetings/service may be required.
