The Manager Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the clinical and professional review, policies and procedures for the compounding and dispensing of prescribed medications, drugs and supplies needed for patient care in accordance with all state and federal regulations. The Manager Clinical Pharmacy oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of backend policies, procedures, and programs supporting prescription compounding. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including USP <795> and <800>, and supports operational efficiency, medication safety, and quality assurance.

  • Act as support center designated person responsible for developing policies and procedures, and training required by USP <795> Pharmaceutical Compounding - Nonsterile Preparations and <800> - Hazardous Drugs - Handling in Healthcare Settings, and state laws related to nonsterile compounding and handling hazardous drugs.
  • Be a subject matter expert in nonsterile compounding and the handling of hazardous drugs and assist in responding to board of pharmacy investigations.
  • Review and analyze compounding sales data; Draw conclusions and develop plans to address opportunities.
  • Provide oversight of the policies and procedures for clinical decision making for compounded prescriptions.
  • Make recommendations and develop plans to implement Retail/CCOE/HD compounding strategy.
  • Work with associated teams to implement new compounding locations.
  • StoreNet compounding site maintenance.
  • Develop and deploy communications for field team members RE: compounding.
  • Liaison to Pharmacy Affairs, Legal, and PSO as Compounding subject matter expert.
  • Evaluate buyout opportunities in partnership with Mergers and Acquisitions, and create and implement plans to operationalize.
  • Develop direct reports through orientation, training, communication of rules and constructive feedback, motivation, and loyalty.
  • Other responsibilities as judgment or necessity dictates.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Current pharmacist license without restrictions in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy in the State in which the position is located; may require additional State Board of Pharmacy licenses or other credentials, such as NABP Verify, based on regulatory requirements and/ or business needs.
  • If applicable, the ability to obtain additional pharmacist licenses without restriction and in good standing as required including the state in which the pharmacy is located.
  • 4 years work experience as a pharmacist.
  • 2 years work experience as a compounding pharmacist.
  • 1 year of leadership / people management experience.
  • Experience developing training, policies, and procedures to comply with USP <795> and <800>.
  • Experience analyzing in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and design solutions.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing of multiple projects with varying completion dates; ability to develop and deliver presentations to various audience levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to/at least 20% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
  • Lean Six Sigma training and/or certification
