About The Position

The Patient Financial Services (PFS) Operations Manager directs all PFS operations, streamlining processes, maintaining and testing systems for accuracy and compliance, and leading automation efforts. This role also supports senior management goals and develops team members.

Requirements

  • 8+ years’ experience in a clinical laboratory preferred, especially genetic billing
  • 5+ years’ experience in revenue cycle management
  • 5+ years’ experience with XiFiN software
  • Knowledge of various payer plans and demonstrate a strong understanding of accounts receivable (A/R)
  • Thorough understanding of billing and collection requirements
  • Deep understanding of SOX compliance
  • Must be analytical, detailed, and organized
  • Able to meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of CPT codes, medical terminology, insurance plans, ICD 10 codes
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and tools for career development/management of team members including coaching, mentoring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and other employee related activities.
  • Conducts one-on-one performance reviews and quarterly career development check-ins for direct reports.
  • Establish productivity and quality benchmarks aligned with departmental goals and hold team members accountable for results.
  • Collaborate with team leads to implement best practices, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency in A/R and denial management processes.
  • Monitor and analyze key operational metrics to proactively identify and implement solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to staff while managing and reporting on projects assigned by senior leadership.
  • Maintain precise data transfer between laboratory and billing systems by reconciling accession records and addressing any interface discrepancies.
  • Manage billing system configuration and maintenance to ensure clean claim submission, including pricing, test codes, payers, and compliance edits.
  • Audit billing systems to identify and resolve issues impacting claim accuracy and cash flow.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve claim submission errors, manage vendor system releases, and update payer requirements.
  • Perform testing and validation of system changes to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
  • Conduct quarterly assessments of SOX controls.
  • Other duties as assigned
