About The Position

Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary Maintains and grows relationships with physicians and clinical staff. hospital staff, and clinical staff. Evaluates techniques and/or equipment for clinical application. Ensures that appropriate capital equipment and disposable inventory is ordered, stocked, and available for all procedures. Essential Functions All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference Confers with surgeons regarding the nature of the procedure to be performed and gathers necessary information about the patient to be used in conjunction with the operation of the heart-lung machine. Operates heart-lung machine during the surgical procedure performing necessary function to maintain patient's condition. Monitors a variety of physiologic paraments during the surgical procedures. Maintains accurate records of each perfusion case as a permanent copy of the medical record. Administers blood under the direction of the attending physician. Administers IV fluids, as well as drugs, such as vasopressors, anticoagulants in conjunction with the operation of the heart-lung machine. Coordinates with material services staff to ensure adequate supplies. Coordinates with surgeons on new techniques and procedures, and training of staff in new procedures. Follows the laboratory's procedure for handling specimens, processing, test analyses, and reporting results; maintains quality control records for blood gas, hematocrit, and electrolyte analyzer on a daily basis all point of care testing in the department; documents all corrective actions associated with quality control testing; maintains records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested and reported to an external source. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree Science or Perfusion
  • Experience - Five (5) years perfusion experience
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) issued by American Board Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
  • Maintains familiarity of physiologic monitoring/recording and other procedures.
  • Knowledge of office equipment
  • Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets)
  • Mathematical skills
  • Working knowledge of patient equipment

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year lead experience preferred.
