Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Five to ten years of finance experience
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience
  • Requires one to be extremely organized
  • Moderate knowledge of MS Office Products
  • High level of initiative
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Accuracy in their quality of work
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills
  • SAP experience
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good customer service skills
  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate

Responsibilities

  • Assist payroll department staff in processing payroll
  • Troubleshoot any problems, verify all payrolls are processed correctly, verify all taxes are withheld correctly, verify all 401(k), savings bonds, child support, garnishment, and other misc. deductions are withheld correctly and remitted to the appropriate third parties
  • PAC (Political Action Committee) Treasurer Responsible for tracking all employee contributions, making all disbursements, and filing all required reports
  • Input all pension maintenance into the Mellon online system, prepare paperwork for all lump sum pension distributions, and reconcile to Mellon's figures each month
  • Prepare monthly Journal Voucher entry for Payroll adjustments
  • Prepare various general ledger account/bank account reconciliations and review those prepared by other payroll department staff members
  • Responsible for calculating all gross ups for relocations and company cars, dues, etc.
  • Responsible for all bonus and misc. payments
  • Responsible for issuing forms W-2 to all employees and filing the related reports with the appropriate federal, state, and local agencies
  • Responsible for balancing the final payroll of the year to the year-end reports
  • Responsible for preparing the necessary payroll documentation for the annual work comp audit, and for any financial, tax or other misc. audits
  • Responsible for preparing any payroll reports requested by management
  • Coordinate with IS&S to maintain all computerized payroll systems
  • Perform testing on any system that have been modified or upgraded
