About The Position

The Manager, Payroll manages and develops payroll processing team members including assignment of routine tasks, supervision of projects and review of compliance. The Manager, Payroll supervises processing and delivery for North American payroll groups. The Manager, Payroll develops and implements payroll procedures to ensure timely processing of payroll and all financial obligations related to the payroll process. The Manager, Payroll files payroll related tax paperwork and answers requests for information from state and federal agencies. The Manager, Payroll works with Internal audit, HRIS, Accounting and other internal shareholders to maintain compliance and complete data flow between groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, HR or related field
  • 8-10 years of experience in payroll management or 12-15 years' experience in a related field
  • Five years of payroll management experience within a progressive HRIS environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable payroll processes and procedures
  • Proven experience processing Canadian and US payrolls
  • Experience with Dayforce or Ceridian payroll/HRIS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows with strong Excel skills
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong math skills - able to understand and accurately present numbers
  • Able to lead and motivate employees by guiding, training, and offering counseling
  • Strong personal integrity due to exposure to a wide array of personal information

Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll, timecard, and audit rotation for payroll team
  • Regularly audit payroll files for completeness and compliance
  • Work closely with internal audit to setup, test and maintain internal controls
  • Meet regularly with accounting to confirm payroll outputs meet requirements and pay runs are properly accounted for
  • Supervise payroll tax compliance, oversee payroll tax filings, registrations, and maintenance
  • Review and approve payroll service contracts and billings
  • Process all tax account inheritance paperwork for acquired companies
  • Ensure compliance with all state/province/territory payroll requirements related to employee rights and employer responsibilities
