Job Summary The Manager – Admissions & Registration oversees the daily operations and strategic management of patient admissions, registration, and central communications. This position ensures accurate, efficient, and patient-centered access to hospital services and supervises a team responsible for front-end revenue cycle processes. The Manager also supports compliance, staffing, policy development, and training efforts to promote operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and patient access platforms
  • Ability to manage and train staff in a healthcare environment
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, time management, and multitasking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management tools
  • Ability to function under stress and resolve complex service issues promptly
  • Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) completion of formal training programs in admissions and switchboard operations (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role in patient access or hospital admissions (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages all functions related to inpatient and outpatient admissions, registration, and switchboard operations
  • Serves as a liaison between patients, staff, physicians, visitors, and external stakeholders
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures; ensures compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards
  • Oversees employee scheduling, payroll processing, attendance tracking, and staffing coverage
  • Maintains the registration dictionaries within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Monitors departmental supplies, resources, and budgets; ensures cost-effective operations
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations for departmental personnel
  • Leads employee training in areas such as compliance, HIPAA, customer service, and system functionality
  • Collaborates with privacy officer to maintain HIPAA readiness and staff awareness
  • Represents the department on committees and performance improvement teams
  • Participates in recruitment, onboarding, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Assures accurate, up-to-date employee job descriptions and timely completion of performance evaluations
  • Supports special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by senior leadership
