POSITION SUMMARY: Performs the primary function of a professional nurse leader under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients and operational flow of the OR. The Manager- RN shall oversee and guide nursing employees that are under their supervision and is responsible for implementing the policies, procedures and philosophy of the hospital. Will also assist with educational activities such as annual competencies, new hire orientation, mock drills, and skills check offs. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. Will assist with operational throughput, organization of room and staff assignments and aiding in OR case board coordination. May on occasion work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or on an on-call status. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned. The nurse manager will monitor the department financials on a monthly basis and will be directly responsible for the unit productivity while overseeing the timely completion of the daily schedule.
