The Operations Manager is responsible for providing the strategic direction and leadership for the department personnel and for the operation of the four manufacturing units, four extruding units, four loading units, multiple carwash facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, two raw materials warehouses, and a rail SIT (Storage In Transit) yard. In addition, this position serves on the site leadership team and as the site representative on the LyondellBasell Operations Network Core Team. This position is expected to meet the overall site objectives regarding safety, quality, production, environmental, cost management, and personnel development.

  • Administers department safety activities in keeping with the facility and company safety goals and objectives.
  • Manages the performance and professional development of direct report personnel and ensures supervisors are effectively managing area operating, lab, and contractor personnel.
  • Directs plant operation such that there is consistency with quality principles that provides continuous improvement in all performance measures and key performance indicators (KPI's).
  • Responsible for maintaining ISO 9001 compliance, assure full compliance with cGMP for associated food and medical grade products, and assure full compliance with RCMS.
  • Overall responsibility for safe and environmentally compliant operations of the Polypropylene and Catalloy plants in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws as well as OE standards, Operation Clean Sweep, and OSHA VPP.
  • Overall responsibility for product loading and unloading operations, for raw material deliveries, and product shipments including truck, rail and pipeline movements throughout BYO.
  • Provides guidance for defining routine maintenance of plant equipment and unit maintenance driven outages.
  • Translate and integrate Company strategies into objectives and action plans; planning, organizing, and measuring goal progress toward achieving world-class results.
  • Develop and manage the budget for all areas of responsibility, establish programs and plans to improve production efficiency, reduce unit variable costs.
  • Promotes consistency of purpose with other functional groups within the plant site and within LYB to meet the LYB and BYO mission, business plans, and profit improvement objectives.
  • Ensure the Code of Conduct, and all other company policies are consistently and fairly administered.
  • Acts on behalf of the Site Manager when delegated.
  • Active member of the LYB OPN Team.
  • This position requires a B.S. Engineering degree with Production/Process supervisory and non-supervisory experience and a minimum of 15 years experience, including previous assignments as a manager or superintendent.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 20 years of equivalent industry experience over multiple technologies at multiple sites is required.
  • Heavy interface is required with the business partners both within the Company and outside the Company.
  • Must have the ability to manage a world scale, around-the-clock, production facility including a staff of shift supervisors, production engineers, process specialists, production-maintenance coordinator, feedstock coordinator, lab technicians, process technicians, and logistics contractors.
