About The Position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of natural gas and ethane pipeline facilities in the Cambridge Operating Area. This role includes managing operational activities, performance management of staff, ensuring safety and quality control, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory matters. The manager will interact with various stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and emergency responders, and will lead a team of supervisors and specialists.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering or Business Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in pipeline system operations, maintenance, and/or engineering.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with gas pipeline system operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for operation of DOT facilities and environmental laws.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all stations, pipelines, and personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations across Ohio, Michigan, and Windsor, Canada.
  • Oversee functions related to outside contractors operating on company property to protect company interests.
  • Ensure pipeline, meter stations, and compressor station operations achieve goals within budgeted funds and available personnel.
  • Plan and organize workloads and staff assignments, reviewing progress and directing changes as needed.
  • Participate in the selection and promotion of staff, conduct performance evaluations, and handle disciplinary matters.
  • Coordinate training and operational programs for safety, emergency response, and new hire orientation.
  • Develop short and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for area operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments, governmental agencies, and customers.
  • Manage projects within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations affecting pipeline system operations.
  • Review contracts pertaining to work around company facilities to ensure protection of company property.
  • Coordinate company response to actions of outside contractors, including site inspections and confirmation of scope of work.
  • Oversee inspections of facilities for compliance with maintenance, environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.
  • Develop and execute operational plans for severe weather events and lead area response in emergencies.
