You will oversee patient access operations, lead our QAPI program, drive survey readiness, and partner closely with clinical and executive leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Purpose Walla Walla Community Hospice Manager of Operations, Quality & Regulatory is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination of internal operational functions and the ongoing compliance of hospice programs with federal, state regulations as well as applicable accreditation standards. This position provides leadership and oversight to departments supporting patient access, health information management, insurance case management, and organizational Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI). This manager partners with clinical and administrative leaders to promote operational efficiency, survey readiness, and the highest quality of patient and family care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Current (RN) licensure in Washington and Oregon (or ability to obtain).
  • Six (6) years of clinical experience with a minimum of three (3) years in hospice care.
  • Three (3+) years of experience in quality regulatory and compliance, hospice preferred.
  • Two (2+) years prior management/leadership experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of lean methodologies and applications in operational excellence.
  • Valid CPR, Driver’s License, and reliable transportation and automobile insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) + years of leadership experience.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or other applicable master’s degree.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CHPN, six sigma, CPHQ, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Internal Operations Leadership Oversee daily agency operations and staff responsible for internal operations and patient access including referral intake, scheduling, triage, admissions, and float staff, prioritizing timely access and operational excellence.
  • Develop processes to ensure timely, accurate, and patient-centered service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain applicable policies, procedures, and performance standards for internal operations.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and leadership to resolve operational barriers and enhance coordination of care.
  • Quality and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Direct the hospice’s Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program in compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation.
  • May serve as QAPI Committee Chair.
  • Oversee and perform generalized and targeted clinical chart audits and data collection, collating and sharing data with cross functional team members as appropriate.
  • Ensure high-risk, high volume and unusual events are monitored concurrently and retrospectively as they occur.
  • Identify trends, develop action plans, and monitor outcomes to improve organizational performance and patient satisfaction.
  • Facilitate data collection, analysis, and reporting for key quality indicators and patient outcomes.
  • Lead or support committees focused on quality, safety, workplace violence prevention and performance improvement.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Oversight Collaborate with CEO to ensure hospice compliance with federal and state regulations as well as applicable accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, DOH, CHAP/ACHC).
  • Conduct internal audits and mock surveys to maintain continuous survey readiness.
  • Coordinate responses to survey findings and implement corrective action plans.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and disseminate updates to appropriate staff and departments.
  • Staff Leadership and Development Supervise, coach, and evaluate assigned staff to promote high performance, accountability, and engagement.
  • Provide ongoing training to ensure staff competence in regulatory, documentation, and operational standards.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Support clinical education development and training.
  • May serve as Clinical Manager delegate as needed.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budget development, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a liaison with external partners, payers, and auditors as needed.
  • Support organizational initiatives that promote compliance, efficiency, and service excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
