About The Position

This position is responsible for directing, controlling and coordinating key aspects of manufacturing assets across multiple locations to deliver upon strategic initiatives and maximize profitability of the company. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this role provides flexible, as-needed leadership support to plants/sites, drives operational improvement projects, and helps ensure consistent execution of company standards.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree B.A. or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 10 plus years related experience in a manufacturing plant and/or multi-site manufacturing operations support or relevant combined education and experience. Food manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, maintenance, shipping, receiving, sanitation, quality assurance, accounting, safety, human resources and material management and provides leadership support for site operations as needed, including responsibility for overall plant operation in the absence of the Plant Manager at assigned locations.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Special Skills: Display sound judgment and decision-making leadership and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work off hours on a routine basis to provide guidance and training to a three shift 6/7day operation and to support multiple locations as business needs require.
  • Travel: 50%

Responsibilities

  • This requires working with Team Members to develop good working relationships and high morale across assigned locations.
  • Performing administrative duties and seeing that objectives are being met.
  • Leading production teams to create a work environment which reflects a commitment to employee safety, product quality, food safety and positive employee relations using Lean and Continuous Improvement Techniques through company values and behaviors in action.
  • Supporting plants/sites as needs arise, including short-term coverage for leadership gaps and ownership of improvement projects that drive performance, standardization, and capability building.
  • Communicating with Team Members on project timelines and tasks that need to be completed immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality and food safety requirements to protect customers, consumers and Tyson Foods - including all state and federal regulations.
  • Other responsibilities include developing and training Team Members and troubleshooting areas that might cause problems with production.
  • The position will also fill in as acting plant manager at assigned locations in the plant manager’s absence.
