About The Position
The Manager on Duty at Bryant Park Winter Village plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the facility, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. This position reports directly to the General Manager (GM) and is responsible for all managerial duties in the absence of the GM. The Manager on Duty is expected to manage a variety of tasks that encompass programs, events, and the physical facilities of the rink. This includes executing policies and procedures with professionalism and accuracy, as well as supervising rink employees. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Manager on Duty is responsible for scheduling staff while adhering to the payroll budget. This position also requires the individual to act as a leader and set a positive example for junior staff members. A thorough understanding of all rink positions is necessary, as the Manager on Duty may need to step into various roles as required. The position also involves immediate reporting of any liability issues, handling cash transactions, reconciling petty cash daily, and ensuring that daily bank deposits are made. Maintaining a clean and safe facility is paramount, and effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential for success in this role. The work environment is dynamic, as responsibilities may be performed in a standard office setting or on the ice surface, depending on the location. The Manager on Duty must be adaptable to both indoor and outdoor conditions, utilizing standard office equipment as well as maintenance and cleaning equipment specific to recreational facilities. Physical demands of the job include a range of activities such as sitting, standing, walking, running, and even ice skating, making it a physically engaging position.
