About The Position

Position Summary: The Manager of Water Hauling dispatches and manages Treeline’s Water Tanker Fleet. This person, under the guidance and direction of the Director of Risk Management and Water Hauling, manages this 7 day a week division ensuring that we consistently meet the demands of Poland Springs by safely making deliveries on schedule and return safely to Treeline’s Terminal in Chester, Maine. The Manager of Water Hauling along with the Director of Risk Management and Water Hauling collaborates with Human Resources on Class A CDL driver recruitment, orientation, and training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory or team leadership experience, preferably in transportation field.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Possess excellent positive communications skills through telephone, email, and in-person visits with team members, customers, and other professionals.
  • Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to change plans on the go.
  • Possess computer keyboard skills and/ or ability to learn through training.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to developing and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Maintain personal safety and watch out for the safety of their drivers and motoring public.
  • Make sure drivers are following all State and Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations.
  • Comply with all OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Communicate with team members, contractors, business affiliates, insurance companies, customers, etc. in a positive and collaborative manner.
  • Communicate both effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, on the telephone, through email, and via text messaging.
  • Consistently maintain a positive and problem-solving attitude.
  • Understand and adhere to Treeline’s employment handbook.
  • Ensure job descriptions and job safety analyses are appropriate and current.
  • Assists Manager of Risk Management in performing incident investigations to determine root causes in cases that involve the Water Tanker Fleet.
  • Complete Property Damage reports involving any of their CDL drivers and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Supports the Manager of Risk Management by completing/distributing monthly safety material to their assigned drivers and returning documentation in timely manner.
  • Reviews weekly Driver reports through SureCam and coach any drivers on poor driving performance.
  • Collaborate with Manager of Risk Management to assist with hazard and risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies involving the Water Tanker Fleet.
  • Maintain, update, and implement current and additional safety policies and procedures involving the Water Tanker Fleet.
  • Attend meetings assigned that are directly related to safe/efficient Fleet Management.
  • Lead in-house safety trainings for their Fleet through various methods, i.e., in person talks, written materials, safety videos etc.
  • Complete a minimum of 1 to 2 Safety Observations (Safety App) per month of their fleet or another identified positive or negative safety observation at Treeline.
  • Assist the Director of Risk Management and Water Hauling in developing proper policies and procedures for the Water Tanker Fleet.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources, maintain driver compliance regarding valid licensure, violations, DOT physicals, annual MVR and Clearing House checks and other related duties.
  • Provide daily dispatch assignments for the Water Tanker Fleet
  • Gather BOLS daily from Water Drivers, create invoices and save and disseminate according to Treeline’s process for billing and record keeping.
  • Assist Director of Risk Management and HR establishing a Safe Driving Rewards Program
  • Conduct performance evaluations for new hires at 30-day, 90-day, and one-year intervals.
  • Works with the Director of Risk Management and Water Hauling to make sure that each truck assigned to water hauling is equipped with a Maine Turnpike Association EzPass.
  • Other duties as assigned.
