The Technical Services Manager at Bowling Green State University is responsible for overseeing all technical operations within the School of Media and Communication. This role includes managing technical staff, budgeting, facility design, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The manager will also engage in hands-on maintenance and operation of technical equipment, while providing support for student media and production activities.

  • Manage the technical operations and maintenance of equipment and software utilized in the area of responsibility.
  • Inspect equipment and conduct documented performance checks to ensure proper operation and conformity with FAA/FCC regulations.
  • Supervise SMC technology support personnel and student positions for broadcasting audio and video productions.
  • Oversee technical maintenance of SMC student media website including streaming and database integration.
  • Engage in hands-on operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment hardware and software.
  • Consult with SMC departments and external constituents regarding technical support.
  • Maintain custom database applications and liaise with BGSU Information Technology Services on IT-related activities.
  • Conduct professional development training and research new/emerging technologies.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, must be conferred at the time of application.
  • 3 years of supervisory responsibility.
  • 3 years of management responsibility.
  • Competency in maintenance and repair of technical equipment in studios and transmitter facilities.
  • RF engineering knowledge and in-depth knowledge of Audio, Video, and RF technologies.
  • Professional IT experience of 1-2 years in hardware support, software operating system support, or cross-platform support.
  • Competency in supporting desktop operating systems (Mac OS and Windows).
  • Competency in computer networking configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in developing and teaching classes for prospective radio personalities.
  • Technical competency advising student media organizations.
  • Ability to learn and apply emerging technologies.
