About The Position

The Manager of Student Engagement at Volunteer State Community College is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive programs that support students' academic success by addressing non-academic factors impacting their learning. This role focuses on delivering proactive support services, managing wellness spaces, and coordinating prevention programming, including mental health training. The position also involves resolving student conduct issues, supervising the Coordinator of Student Activities, and collaborating with faculty and community partners to ensure holistic support for students during their academic journey.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in student services or related fields.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate prevention and support programs.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, student counseling, or advising.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in human services, Counseling, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education, mental health, or social services.
  • Project management experience in prevention and support programming.
  • Training in suicidal ideation intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement programs to support students' academic success.
  • Manage wellness spaces and coordinate prevention programming.
  • Resolve student conduct issues according to VSCC policy.
  • Supervise the Coordinator of Student Activities.
  • Investigate and adjudicate student discipline issues in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President for Student Support.
  • Provide training and materials on student conduct policies to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Manage the Title IX process for student-related cases.
  • Develop and implement mental health awareness and intervention training.
  • Build partnerships with local mental health agencies for student support.
  • Coordinate student engagement initiatives and wellness workshops.
  • Maintain a directory of campus and community resources for students.
  • Assess the effectiveness of prevention and support programs through data collection and feedback.
  • Represent VSCC at Tennessee Board of Regents meetings and prepare compliance reports.
  • Manage the Wellness Suite and ensure it operates efficiently.
