About The Position

The Manager of Community Affairs is responsible for managing and executing smooth family and student operations. This role will require good communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational and multitasking skills, and analytical and problem-solving abilities. The Manager of Community Affairs ensures that family and student needs are effectively addressed, core student enrichment programs are executed as planned, and any additional community needs are met. The Manager of Community Affairs works in conjunction with the Operations team and reports directly to the Director of Community Affairs.

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a small team and multiple complex projects
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects and competing priorities across multiple teams of people with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the KIPP mission, with school-based experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the manager of student and family programming, ensuring processes and events are successfully executed:
  • Student Government
  • Document student government process
  • Work directly with students and leadership to communicate student requests in meetings
  • Student event planning with student government and other student leaders
  • Student Clubs and Organizations
  • Manage and ensure student clubs are following club expectations
  • Manage club budget
  • Manage advisors of clubs and school organizations (club approvals, attendance, budgets, organization, fundraising, etc)
  • Student Community Service
  • Manage community service projects for students
  • Document protocols and guidelines for community service initiatives
  • Advisory and Peer Leadership
  • Work with Peer Leader Advisors in planning for weekly advisory lessons and grade level meetings
  • Lead a peer leadership course with select student leaders
  • Student Events
  • Organize and execute student-led events such as senior events/prom/graduation, club events, grade-level reward activities and trips, and other student events
  • Student and staff school photos - Work with photographers to schedule student and staff photos
  • Manage School Store
  • Oversee ordering and regulate school store
  • Support Family Community Association
  • Meet with the Director of Community Affairs to plan bi-weekly family meetings (share info with families about events that are happening in the school)
  • Planning family events
  • Present for specific assigned daily duties
  • Supports in ensuring that planned events are successfully executed
  • Supports with family and student events
  • Escalates concerns and challenges to the Director of Community Affairs in a timely manner
  • Serve as a full-time and engaged member of the school staff, including accompanying students on field lessons (if needed), assisting with student enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of the school's mission.
