About the position

As the Manager of Software Engineering at R1 RCM, you will lead the development and maintenance of SaaS healthcare applications. This role involves designing software solutions, collaborating with product management, and mentoring a team of engineers to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software solutions with an engineering mindset.
  • Collaborate with product management to assess and plan releases and roadmaps.
  • Mentor and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance and support.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality enterprise software on schedule.
  • Drive difficult projects through to completion.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience delivering web-based applications and services.
  • Understanding of object-oriented principles in languages such as C#, C++, and Java.
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Expertise in high-level programming languages.
  • Experience with message or data streaming-based application development using technologies like JMS, Azure Messaging Services, Apache Kafka, or Amazon MQ.
  • Knowledge of web services standards and related technologies (XML, XSD, SOAP, JSON, REST).
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database technologies (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, HBase) and concepts like ACID and CAP theorem.
  • Understanding of modern software development methodologies including version control, unit testing, and continuous integration & deployment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Agile development experience.
  • Strong communication and debugging skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with automated test tools and techniques.
  • Some experience utilizing project management skills and best practices.
  • Experience with Cloud providers and services such as Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with microservices architectures and containerization using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Service Fabric.
  • PMP Certification or 3+ years utilizing project management best practices.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7, FHIR, EDI X12.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle, EMRs, and practice management systems.
