About The Position

The primary function of this position is product development, ideation and substantiation in addition to responsibilities pertaining to the optimization of our Swanson product portfolio. The manager will serve as a primary resource for product change strategy and implementation. Works cross-functionally with departments such as, but not limited to, regulatory, marketing and merchandising on innovation and product development.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively multi-task
  • Ability to interpret scientific research studies
  • Ability to interpret regulatory guidelines
  • Good communication skills
  • Working knowledge of online research
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office programs
  • PhD and/or Master’s Degree in one of the sciences, as well as 5 or more years experience
  • Extensive nutritional and clinical science knowledge, coaching, supervision, process improvement, Self-Development, Planning, Performance Management Or; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Member of the product development team working on innovation and product substantiation.
  • Keeps current on industry innovation and trends, ingredients and regulatory changes that may impact products, procedures and formulations.
  • Screen new technologies from vendors/researchers to further support and fill the SHP pipeline of products.
  • Helps develop differentiation points and competitive edge for product development.
  • Research and assemble product concepts and substantiation for presentation to leadership.
  • Helps evaluate new ingredient clinical science presented by 3rd party Ingredient suppliers.
  • Manages the process for product changes, ensuring participation and input from all necessary cross functional groups and gaining alignment and approval from said groups.
  • Enhances department and organization by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
  • Identifies and suggests areas for personal growth within the organization.
  • Initiate and manage internal change process for products that complete the SA or other similar developments that use the product change function.
  • Responsible for gathering all necessary information regarding formulations associated with the SHP portfolio of products including but not limited by raw material research and results to make informed decisions.
  • Drives the technology transfer process by providing summaries at key stages during projects as requested.
  • Makes skilled and informed adjustments to internal specifications and ensures each Co-Manufacturer has the completed technical understanding of the formulations.
  • Participates in process improvements and product investigations.
