About The Position

Under administrative direction, the Manager of Public Affairs is responsible for leading all efforts to develop and implement the RTAA’s strategic communications and content strategies. This position is often on camera and also serves as a key liaison between executive leadership and both external and internal audiences, ensuring cohesive messaging that advances organizational priorities.   • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, communications, English, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Seven (7) years of integrated Communications experience
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with authority to drive an RTAA vehicle for the duration of appointment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

Responsibilities

  • Public Information Officer (PIO) Functions Serve as RTAA’s Public Information Officer (PIO), including being on-call during non-working hours and during crisis situations.
  • Respond to media requests for information or interviews in a timely and professional manner, consistently representing the RTAA with appropriate narrative, demeanor, and appearance.
  • Actively build and enhance relationships with the media and PIO counterparts in neighboring agencies.
  • Plan and coordinate press conferences and special events.
  • Coordinate on-property filming requests from outside entities.
  • Strategic Content Development, Research and Monitoring Develop, create, and coordinate the distribution of accurate, timely, and accessible information to promote the RTAA’s key messages to internal and external audiences in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • These materials could include: media releases, newsletters, media advisories, social media posts, letters, memos, talking points, video scripts, presentations, executive briefing packets, crisis communications handbooks, and internal and external articles and documents.
  • Regularly ensure that the strategic plan is on track, providing updates and recommended course corrections as needed.
  • Translate metrics, research, forecasts, and consumer trends into actionable insights to prepare and execute effective, market research-based campaigns.
  • Proactively monitors a wide array of media to stay current on issues and anticipate potential impacts on the RTAA.
  • Department Operations Manage assigned staff by providing leadership and direction.
  • Participates in budget development and manages projects and priorities within budgetary constraints.
  • Crisis/Emergency Response This position is considered essential as part of RTAA’s Emergency Response Team and is required to respond to airport incidents as needed.
