About The Position

UW Medicine's Patient Financial Services department has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager of Program Operations - Special Programs and Refunds. WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine Patient Financial Services is a shared services department, located at Sandpoint at 7527 63rd Ave NE, Seattle, WA. This position is mainly work from home position but may require the incumbent to come onsite infrequently (hybrid). UW Medicine includes UW Medical Center (UWMC), one of the nation's premier educational and research institutions and Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the only Level I trauma center in the entire WWAMI/five-state region. Patient Financial Services is responsible for the patient accounting functions for UWMC and HMC, including billing for inpatient and outpatient services provided at the Medical Centers. In a department of 130+ employees, this position will have the responsibility of resolving and reporting on specific insurance payer AR, supporting 25+ staff, and communication and escalation of payer matters. The position will also require collaboration with PFS customers, including but not limited to Patient Access, Patient Accounts and Support Services, Coding, Utilization Management, Contracting and many other UW Medicine Organizational Partners. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise Patient Financial Services Supervisors, working with them to plan and schedule resources to achieve department goals. Monitor progress in meeting goals and provide feedback Conduct Performance Evaluations. Prepare work measurement criteria and manage enforcement of performance standards Review and approve personnel decisions within the department Conduct staff meetings and on-going training within the department. Review and approve patient accounting transactions processed by staff. Participate in departmental goal setting Develop, implement and maintain operating procedures that are consistent with effective internal control practices, compliance standards and Medical Centers' policies Review and interpret new regulations and contracts to determine impact on Patient Financial Services; monitor compliance with regulations and contracts Prepare Customer Requests for ITS documenting problems and statement of changes needed. Approve and monitor expenditures. Prepare documents and spreadsheets using Microsoft Word and Excel programs Demonstrate commitment to excellent customer service Work with staff to ensure quality of work, support Patients Are First Initiatives and ability to communicate effectively with all staff and the public REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor's Degree in business administration or health related program and four years of professional experience in revenue cycle operations. Equivalent education/experience may substitute for the above requirements. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in business administration or health related program and four years of professional experience in revenue cycle operations.
  • Equivalent education/experience may substitute for the above requirements.
