About The Position

The Manager of Planning and Scheduling, Asset Maintenance is responsible for the management of all aspects of the maintenance task planning and scheduling of terminal assets, including Quay Cranes, RTGs, Spreaders, Straddle Carriers, and rolling stock equipment. This position is also responsible to assist with cost effective maintenance and proper communication with AM contractors and APMT’s Operations team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in terminal operations, data analysis, and asset management.
  • Strong managerial, supervisory, team building, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicting goals and make real-time decisions.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with a strong safety culture.
  • Ability to set operational plans with short-term impact.
  • Ability to modify important changes rapidly.
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
  • Broad knowledge in asset management discipline.
  • Knowledge of Union labor Collective Bargaining Agreements and Safety contracts.
  • Prior experience using CMMS or other computer-based maintenance systems.
  • Knowledge or prior experience with Lean methodology, RCFA, KAIZEN, problem solving, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage AM contractors and union labor in all areas of maintenance operations and equipment.
  • Ensure that all critical preventative and corrective maintenance is being planned and completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Supervise and direct labor in maintaining a safe and clean working environment through adherence to OSHA and safety procedures.
  • Schedule, assign, and approve all work hours, including overtime for mechanics.
  • Create, maintain, and manage schedules for preventative maintenance to maximize asset life.
  • Analyze current procedures and activities to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in terminal improvement projects involving process changes and planning execution.
  • Support the disciplinary process and contribute to investigations into personnel issues.
  • Maintain a working relationship with ILWU labor and be knowledgeable in labor contracts.
  • Resolve on-the-job labor issues with ILWU locals.
  • Support and drive the efficient use of CMMS for business management objectives.
  • Control work orders and ensure maintenance of critical equipment.
  • Control and reduce maintenance and materials costs.
  • Interface with equipment suppliers to develop and review equipment specifications.
  • Manage customer relationships with vendors and operations groups.
