About The Position

The Manager of Outpatient Nursing Operations provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for nursing services within the Outpatient Psychiatry program. This role oversees nursing staff across multiple clinic locations and ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Working in collaboration with the Director of Outpatient Services and interdisciplinary teams, the Manager supports staff development, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient outcomes. The position serves as a resource for clinical decision-making, staff support, and crisis response while ensuring outpatient nursing practices align with organizational policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Two or more years of progressively responsible nursing experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Two or more years of progressively responsible nursing experience in a psychiatric nursing setting.
  • More than 1 year of supervisory experience as a nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of outpatient psychiatry nursing services across clinic locations.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and guidance to nursing staff to ensure quality patient care and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor clinic workflows, staffing needs, and service delivery to maintain efficient operations.
  • Assist with direct patient care as needed based on clinic demand.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules and clinic coverage plans.
  • Complete required reports and operational documentation including monthly reports provided to partner organizations.
  • Utilize electronic systems to monitor operational performance and clinical activities.
  • Participate in program planning and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Provide clinical guidance to staff regarding patient care, medication processes, and nursing best practices.
  • Oversee medication refill workflows, injections, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Respond to and assist with crisis situations involving escalated or emotionally dysregulated patients.
  • Collaborate with providers, crisis teams, and other programs to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards including CMS, DHS/DQA, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Conduct audits and reviews to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and clinical best practices.
  • Participate in development and updates of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and quality improvement.
  • Work closely with the Director of Outpatient Services and other leadership to support program goals and operational success.
  • Partner with clinical teams, information services, and other departments to address operational issues and improve patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for staff concerns, operational challenges, and clinical coordination needs.
  • Provide support across clinic locations when needed.
  • Address patient concerns and assist staff in resolving operational or clinical issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and retain qualified nursing staff.
  • Assign work, manage schedules, and ensure adequate staffing coverage across clinic locations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns through coaching, mentoring, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Support professional development and training initiatives for nursing staff.
  • Lead regular staff meetings and maintain open communication within the team.
  • This position directly supervises outpatient nursing staff and related clinical personnel.
