About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Manager of Lean (HQ) that will develop and implement a Kaizen-based continuous improvement approach tailored to diverse work environments, build group capabilities for consistent application, and support Group Leaders in fostering a continuous improvement culture to enhance business outcomes. This position is remote, allowing for any home base location in the continental United States, with travel requirements of up to 50%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related degree OR equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of related work experience
  • Minimum 15 years' construction or manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in continuous improvement or operational roles
  • Experience facilitating lean activities (Kaizen Events, Improvement Initiatives, Takt Planning)
  • Expert understanding of continuous improvement tools and practices (Kaizen, Lean, Takt Planning)
  • Humble learner with curiosity and optimism
  • Proactive self-starter with growth mindset
  • Excellent reliability and follow-through
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor leaders and professionals
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within the continental U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Create strong partnerships to establish trust in lean approaches
  • Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels, focusing on Group Leaders, Lean resources, project leaders, field leaders, and the Craft workforce
  • Support leaders in focusing on building culture and driving business outcomes
  • Apply and refine Mortenson’s Kaizen-based continuous improvement approach
  • Advocate for thoughtful application of the approach to develop capability and improve outcomes
  • Partner with Group Leaders and project teams to test and improve the approach
  • Facilitate effective use of continuous improvement tools, developing and refining them
  • Maintain consistency and effectiveness of the approach through ongoing assessment and improvement
  • Coach and develop key individuals to foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
