About The Position

The Anatomic Pathology Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Histology and Cytology lab including the gross cutting room and will oversee, assist and guide Histology and Cytology departments. Will actively integrate the entire Anatomic Pathology functions throughout the departmental shifts. Will be responsible to organize the workflow to result in optimum efficiency utilizing appropriate metrics to maximize the departmental operations efficiencies. Manager will collaborate with department pathologists and other known experts and regulatory authorities on such technical issues. Provide guidance to the anatomic pathology departments and medical directors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Anatomic Pathology is preferred. A Bachelors degree in the physical science may be considered if paired with relevant experience in a clinical lab. Advanced management degrees or courses are highly preferred.
  • Experience must include escalating levels of responsibility and a demonstrated ability to manage staff in achievement of department goals. Investigative and problem solving skills. Have a strong understanding of the workflow of the Clinical Laboratory.
  • Registration by ASCP or equivalent Board of Registry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in both short and long range A/P laboratory plans that are consistent with the mission, vision, strategic and business plans.
  • Will plan, coordinate, and take lead(including Medical Director and Clinical Laboratory) on integrating A/P functions throughout all shifts, including scheduling, monitoring, data collection, data presentation, and the implementation of approved new initiatives
  • Assists director, clinical laboratory, and other department leaders within the laboratory in the assurance of compliance with all state, federal, and any other applicable regulatory agency requirements
  • Coordinates and allocates A/P activities to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency
  • Assures all policies, procedures, record keeping, QA/QC, testing documentation are maintained and up to date
  • Ensures lab safety and appropriate ergonomics across the A/P lab
  • Other duties as assigned.
