About The Position

Help build joyful Jewish student life on campus! We are seeking a relationship-driven professional who excels at coaching others and is dedicated to creating a vibrant, welcoming Jewish community on the FSU campus. The Manager of Jewish Student Life supervises staff, leads student engagement efforts, supports student leaders, and helps bring Jewish life to students in meaningful, joyful, and accessible ways. FSU Hillel is unique in providing a meaningful Jewish experience on a campus of 4,000 Jewish students, attracting a wide variety of students from small, rural communities to major metropolitan areas. We offer a pluralistic atmosphere that encourages students to explore the full spectrum of Jewish expression in a safe and supportive environment. Requirements

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in the Hillel world, student affairs, education, or the Jewish nonprofit space is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working in Jewish communal, campus, or youth engagement settings.
  • An organized, flexible approach to working within a growing campus community.
  • Passion for supporting students in exploring Jewish identity, community, and leadership.
  • A commitment to pluralism and a high level of comfort acting as a role model and mentor for emerging adults.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to navigate the ambiguity of developing new opportunities.
  • Ability to make executive decisions independently within a strategic framework.
  • An open, curious, and positive spirit with a commitment to emotional intelligence and leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Hillel world, student affairs, education, or the Jewish nonprofit space is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor four staff members across engagement and operations.
  • Lead the student engagement strategy and manage the engagement team.
  • Develop a student leadership structure to support robust program activities, Shabbat, holiday celebrations, and meaningful Jewish experiences.
  • Lead weekly staff meetings and plan quarterly retreats in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with students through outreach, coffee chats, and consistent presence on campus.
  • Assist senior leadership in the hiring and onboarding processes of new professionals.
  • Mentor student leaders in their Jewish growth and identity development.
  • Develop content for student executive board leadership training in partnership with the Director of Leadership and Wellness.
  • Ensure building policies and systems meet the needs of a growing Jewish community.
  • Utilize critical thinking and empathic leadership to lead in collaboration with senior leadership.
