About The Position

Hendricks Power Cooperative is seeking an experienced Manager of IT & Cybersecurity to play a key role in ensuring the security, reliability and integrity of the Cooperative’s network, distribution system and member data. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative in Avon, Indiana that distributes electric service to over 40,000 members across four counties. The Manager of IT & Cybersecurity will oversee daily IT operations, lead cybersecurity initiatives, support related employee education and drive technology implementation that enhances operational efficiency and strengthens security. Major responsibilities include providing leadership and technical direction to IT team; developing and implementing cybersecurity policies and procedures; managing data protection efforts for all Cooperative subsidiaries and business units; and keeping employees current on cybersecurity awareness and safe technology practices. This role will also conduct risk assessments, maintain incident response and recovery plans, identify and manage software and system vulnerabilities, support disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and ensure projects align with organizational goals, timelines and budgets. A strong emphasis is placed on collaboration across departments, leadership, project management, and fostering a proactive, security-minded culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, networking or cybersecurity.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Proven leadership skills with strong English verbal and written communication abilities
  • Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and present to executive team and board of directors
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple deadline-driven priorities
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing technology
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods in office environment

Nice To Haves

  • Utility or electric cooperative experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Project management certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
