Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in Maine (preferred), flexible to LCSW, Long Term Care Administrator, Nurse Practitioner
  • At least 3–5 years of clinical experience in hospice, palliative care, or inpatient nursing
  • Leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, Medicare guidelines, and end-of-life care practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-centered approach
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced inpatient hospice environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications (CHPN, etc.) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Hospice House Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the hospice house, ensuring a compassionate, comfortable, and home-like environment for patients and families.
  • Clinical Team Leadership: Supervise and support hospice house nursing staff, aides, and other team members to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Patient Care Oversight: Monitor patient care delivery to ensure compliance with hospice regulations, company policies, and best practices.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, the medical director, social workers, chaplains, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, holistic care.
  • Admissions and Care Planning: Facilitate admissions to the hospice house and oversee the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
  • Quality and Compliance: Conduct clinical reviews, audits, and quality monitoring to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Staff Development: Provide coaching, education, and support to hospice house staff to enhance their skills in end-of-life care.
  • Staffing and Scheduling: Manage staffing plans and scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
  • Family Support Resource: Serve as a resource for patients and families, addressing concerns and supporting them through the hospice experience.
  • Documentation Oversight: Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Hospice Philosophy Promotion: Promote the hospice philosophy of care, emphasizing dignity, comfort, and respect for every patient and family.
