About The Position

The Manager of HIM & Medical Records is responsible for the operational oversight of the Health Information Management team, including the management of medical records and the release of information. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, protects patient privacy, and maintains the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of health records. The Manager identifies opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and ensures timely and secure responses to record requests across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, or related field, Required
• 5+ years of experience with progressive healthcare middle revenue cycle responsibilities, including health information management and medical records, Required
• 2+ years of direct supervisory experience, Required
• Comprehensive understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA privacy laws, Required
• CHPS Certification for Privacy and Security, Required

Nice To Haves

• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversees operations of the HIM and Medical Records department, supporting staff responsible for medical records management, release of information, and related HIM functions
• Manage and monitor the release of information processes to ensure compliance with established turnaround times and applicable regulations such as HIPAA
• Coordinate medical record retrieval and fulfillment for legal, insurance, and continuity-of-care requests
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely availability of medical records to support patient care and regulatory requirements
