About The Position

The Manager of General Maintenance upholds Áegis Living standards of care, safety, and excellence across a portfolio of 38 assisted living and memory care communities in three states, serving over 3,000 residential units. This role is responsible for oversight, operational consistency, and long-term stewardship of Áegis physical assets, ensuring each community supports all employees, residents, and business partners. Under the guidance of Asset Management and Operations leadership, the Manager of General Maintenance partners with community General Managers and Community Maintenance Directors to deliver safe, compliant, well-maintained environments while maximizing building system life, controlling costs, and reinforcing Áegis values across the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of commercial and residential building systems, specific experience in senior housing is a plus.
  • Experience in assisted living and memory care environments, including resident centered safety considerations.

  • Ability to travel regularly between Áegis communities, and to visit out of state communities minimum once per year.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations outside normal business hours. This is a salaried position with the expectation that overtime will be required from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure quality of portfolio wide preventive maintenance standards, inspection schedules, and documentation.
  • Ensure all buildings and grounds are maintained in accordance with Áegis standards, regulatory requirements, and employee and resident safety needs.
  • Serve as the Manager of General Maintenance for the Home Office, ensuring all building systems and equipment are in optimal operating condition. May rely on assistance from community maintenance directors or field maintenance staff on execution of special projects at the Home Office as needed.
  • Assist in mentorship and coaching of Maintenance teams across the portfolio of communities.
  • Schedule, prepare and facilitate monthly Maintenance Director meetings online.
  • Promote consistent maintenance practices while respecting the unique operational needs of each community.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service aligned with Áegis values.
  • As required to support regional staff, establish and maintain relationships with licensed vendors, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Confirm inspections, servicing, and repairs for life safety systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and generators have been completed timely and accurately.
  • Review cost information and assess service delivery to ensure vendor performance aligns with Áegis standards, compliance requirements, and budget expectations.
  • Identify, source or facilitate quarterly safety trainings for Home Office and Community Maintenance Directors, in collaboration with Risk Management department.
  • Ensure implementation and ongoing compliance with all Áegis safety standards, protocols, and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee safety audits, emergency drills, and corrective action plans.
  • Partner with Operations and Risk Management to mitigate building related risks and support resident and staff safety.
  • Confirm/audit whether each community collects the correct documentation timely using the online TELS platform; work with community maintenance staff to correct any deficiencies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to work orders, preventive maintenance completion, response times, and cost efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and training enhancements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting community leaders in maintenance related decision making.
  • Assist with onboarding of new Maintenance staff, in partnership with community General Managers.
