About The Position

Manager of Food & Beverage Full-time position $105,000–$115,000, plus potential for an annual incentive bonus Benefits for All Employees (Full-time and Part-time) Heated, underground parking Upscale employee break room Employee referral awards Employee Assistance Program Benefits for Full-time Employees (30 hours + per week) Paid time off Paid holidays 401k (with match) Medical, dental and vision insurance Short and long-term disability Life insurance Role Definition: The Manager of Food & Beverage, “F&B Manager”, is responsible for providing the highest level of service to Members, guests and customers of The Garlands of Barrington in all dining and lounge facilities that meets and exceeds their expectations. The F&B Manager is responsible for managing the Back of the House and the Front of the House employees. The F&B Manager also works with a wide variety of individuals in the internal and external community. The Food and Beverage Manager sets the standards of customer service and builds trusted and valued relationships with customers across departments and with team members. The F&B Manager provides best in class training to the F&B Team Members so that our service levels meet or exceed The Garlands’ Members, guests and customers’ expectations. Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Director of Hospitality.

Requirements

  • Five years restaurant, club or hotel experience, with three of those five years in a supervisory/management position, is required.
  • Demonstrate strong time management when responding to others and meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of restaurant sanitation, food & beverage licensing, alcohol permit compliance.
  • Must be a flexible, highly customer service and people oriented individual who demonstrates compassion, patience and understanding and is willing to do whatever it takes to provide the highest level of service.
  • Must be a team-oriented individual who enjoys working collaboratively with others, creating a positive and uplifting environment, and communicating very effectively at all levels.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to handle a wide variety of responsibilities simultaneously, long hours (including weekends and holidays) and constantly changing priorities, while maintaining an upbeat, customer service focus, are a must.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience and skills in ordering/purchasing, accounting and scheduling.
  • Leadership and the ability to teach, guide, communicate, evaluate, recognize and develop a quality conscious and customer-oriented staff is required.
  • Solid computer skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel (or their equivalent), E-mail and the Internet are necessary, along with the ability to learn and apply new software.
  • Some experience working with a POS computerized system is a must.
  • Takes pride in personal appearance and professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must possess the stamina to work 14-hour days, five to six days per week
  • Must be able to stand, stoop and walk continuously, with approximately one-half hour of sitting during workday.
  • Must be able to move arms and hands in all directions to clean tables and workstations
  • Must be able to lift and move tables and chairs
  • Must be able to lift and empty boxes and other containers

  • Barista or coffee service knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Is directly responsible for overseeing the operation of all aspects of the Food and Beverage department – This includes the Back of the House (Kitchen) and the Front off the house (Servers, Bussers, Hosts) for both independent living and Prairieview dining operations.
  • Is Directly responsible for establishing systems, procedures and policies and ensuring they are followed to maintain operational efficiencies
  • Responsible for making sure that the work schedules are created and posted at least two weeks in advance.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring inventory systems and controls are in place and is counted timely and accurately.
  • Interacts with Members, guests and customers inside and outside the dining facilities to ensure their satisfaction, build relationships and collect all relevant information that is helpful in delivering or meeting their needs and serving them at the highest level of quality.
  • Trains and directs all staff on The Garlands’ customer service standards. Also, train Staff in the proper recording of reservations, effective communication and relationship building with Members and their guests.
  • Manages the point-of-sale system.
  • Assists in kitchen or front of the house during peak periods to ensure that staff is able to provide the highest level of service in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all dining facilities, including Prairieview are fully staffed and stocked.
  • Actively participates in the on-site review of local and state inspections.
  • Works collaboratively with all Team Members and takes whatever action is necessary to provide the highest level of service to all Members, guests and customers of The Garlands.
  • Collaborate with Director of Hospitality on campus wide signature events.
  • Oversee the banquets & catering for private events to ensure fair pricing and excellent execution.
  • Develop creative monthly special events ie., themed dinners, cocktail tastings, cooking demonstrations, food challenges, etc.
  • Assists Human Resources Department in recruiting, training, coaching, disciplining and termination of team members.
  • Attend leadership meetings as required.
  • Facilitate member meetings in both a group and individual setting.
