We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and technically proficient accounting professional to join our finance team, supporting SEC reporting and technical accounting functions within a regulated utility environment. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate preparation of external financial filings, maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, and providing technical accounting guidance on complex transactions. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of financial reporting requirements, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards in a dynamic business environment. This position offers high visibility across the organization and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including Legal, Regulatory Affairs, FP&A, Investor Relations, and external auditors.

Requirements

  • Diversified experience with financial accounting systems, spreadsheets and database software is desirable. Advanced Excel skills.
  • Workiva experience.
  • Experience in utility industry is desirable.
  • Exceptional planning and organization skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and collaborative solutions, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in a big 4 public accounting firm, a publicly traded company or a mix of both.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing consolidated financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and completing GAAP checklists.
  • Assist in research guidance, prepare accounting memos, and work with external auditors to align on key areas, including but not limited to regulatory accounting, stock-based compensation, pension, debt, and business combinations.
  • Review and analyze stock-based compensation expense and ensure accurate reporting in financial statements.
  • Prepare and validate basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) calculations in compliance with GAAP and SEC guidelines.
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards by evaluating the impact of new and emerging accounting standards.
  • Monitor emerging guidance from regulators and financial reporting trends within the regulated utility industry to proactively communicate impact to leadership.
  • Manage filings and documentation in Workiva.
  • Manage the company’s stock-based compensation administration, accounting, reporting and related financial reporting and proxy disclosures.
  • Prepare accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of operational, efficiency for business units, while maintaining appropriate internal controls and compliance with US GAAP.
  • Support special projects and workflow process improvements.
