About The Position

This position is located in south Denver (I-25 & Colorado Blvd) and is an optional hybrid schedule of 2 days remote / 3 days in office. Are you a technical leader who thrives on building scalable, high-performing systems? Tuff Shed is seeking a Manager of Digital Software Development to lead our diverse development team. In this role, you will oversee the engineering execution across our entire technology stack, including Custom Applications, the Salesforce Platform, and Business Intelligence. You will be responsible for the "How" - setting the architectural standards, enforcing code quality, and overseeing the pipelines that keep our teams operating Your focus is on Technical Excellence and Operational Stability. You will mentor a team of engineers, manage the department's technical debt and operational budget, and ensure that our software foundation is robust enough to support the business's rapid growth. The essential functions for this position include but are not strictly limited to: Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team of Software Developers. (.NET), Salesforce Developers/Admins, and Data Engineers. Foster a culture of code review, architectural review, and continuous learning. Team Growth & Development: Drive professional development for the team. Create clear career paths and provide mentorship opportunities that allow engineers to master new languages, tools, and architectural patterns. Architecture & Structure: Own the technical roadmap. Make high-level build vs. buy decisions and determine the right "home" for new features. DevOps & Quality: Own the CI/CD pipelines and release processes. Ensure that code moves from development to production safely, with automated testing and zero downtime. Tech Debt Management: Balance the need for new features with the need for stability. Advocate for and schedule "refactoring" time to ensure long-term system scalability. Best Engineering Practices: Drive efficiency by continuously refining workflows, adopting modern tools, and enforcing coding standards across the stack. Estimation & Execution Alignment: Partner with Solution Delivery and Project Management to validate requirements and provide rigorous engineering estimates. Ensure that technical execution aligns with project timelines and that delivery commitments are met with precision. Technical Backstop: Maintain the ability to dive into code, configuration, or data issues to unblock the team during critical escalations or complex troubleshooting, ensuring delivery never stalls due to a technical hurdle. Performing all other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Tuff Shed management.

Requirements

  • Broad Technical Fluency: Ability to conduct code reviews and architectural discussions across different domains (Custom Web, SaaS/Salesforce, and Data/SQL).
  • DevOps Mindset: Strong understanding of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and modern deployment strategies.
  • Mentorship: A proven track record of growing junior engineers into senior roles and helping teams adopt new technologies.
  • Priority Management: Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands without compromising team focus or delivery quality.
  • Interpersonal Impact: Exceptional soft skills with the ability to build trust across the organization, resolving conflicts within the technical team.

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering as an individual contributor (C#, Java, or similar), preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering management role, preferably managing teams with mixed technology stacks, preferred.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience managing production applications in public cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
